Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
What is Claec Studios?
Claec Studios is a creative restoration studio based in Laurencekirk, Aberdeenshire. We restore and repurpose salvaged, reclaimed, and vintage materials — giving well-made objects a second life and honouring the craftsmanship of the past.
What kinds of items do you restore?
We work with a wide range of vintage and reclaimed materials — from worn timber doors and cast iron hardware to furniture and architectural elements. If it’s well-made and carries a story, we’re interested in giving it a thoughtful new life.
Do you sell restored pieces?
Yes! We offer unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that have been carefully restored or reimagined in our studio. These may be available via our website, newsletter updates, or through occasional pop-ups and events.
Can I commission a custom restoration?
Absolutely. We love working on meaningful projects with individuals and businesses. Whether you have a family heirloom that needs care or reclaimed materials you’d like to see transformed, we’re happy to explore ideas with you.
Do you work with other makers or designers?
Yes — collaboration is at the heart of what we do. We work with artists, craftspeople, interior designers, architects, and heritage organisations who share our values of sustainability, craftsmanship, and creative reuse.
Are your workshops open to the public?
We’re working towards offering hands-on workshops and community-based projects. These will focus on traditional skills, restoration techniques, and slow design principles. Sign up to our newsletter to be the first to know when workshops launch.
Do you accept donations of vintage or salvaged materials?
We’re always interested in hearing about pieces or materials that might be a good fit for our studio. If you have something you think deserves a second life, feel free to get in touch.
How does shipping work?
We offer shipping for select restored pieces, with care taken at every step to ensure your item arrives safely and sustainably. Packaging is kept minimal and eco-conscious, using recycled or recyclable materials whenever possible.
Larger or more fragile items may require local delivery, collection, or bespoke courier arrangements — we’ll always discuss the best option with you before shipping.
At this time, we primarily ship within the UK. If you’re based elsewhere, feel free to reach out — we’re happy to explore what’s possible.
